The purpose of the Fire Mechanics Section is to promote standardization of fire apparatus and equipment preventative maintenance, improve safety standards and practices, promote workshops, conferences, and seminars related to the purposes of this Section, and to promote cost savings through standardization of building and equipment purchasing and maintenance.

Peoria (IL) Celebrates Newest Fire Station

Peoria firefighters, city officials and community members on Wednesday gathered to celebrate the city’s newest fire station, CentralIllinoisProud.com reported.

The Edward B. Gaines Jr. Fire Station 4 in South Peoria is named after the city’s first Black firefighter. He served for 21 years from 1957 to 1978, the report said.
