A 44-year-old North Attleboro mother and her two children suffered minor injuries over July 4th weekend when their car and a fire engine collided, reports thesunchronicle.com.

Firefighters were headed to a call, traveling south on Route 1 near I-295 around 5:30 p.m. July 2. The truck—which had its lights and sirens activated at the time—collided in the left lane with the rear of the car, which stopped short, police officials say.

Maima Goetheh and her children were taken via ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro for treatment of minor injuries, according to the report. She received a traffic citation for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

The apparatus is out of service with front bumper damage, officials say. The department already had a ladder truck out of commission, so it has a Plainville engine on loan.

Crews were responding to an alarm at the Emerald Square mall, which turned out to be smoke in an elevator room, the report notes.

A 49-year-old man was arrested July 2 after he crashed into an emergency vehicle in Fond du Lac County (WI). No serious injuries were reported.

Around 10:40 p.m., the driver hit the rear of an Eldorado Fire Department apparatus parked on I-41 near Townline Road. Crews were responding to the scene of a crash involving a tractor-trailer that rear-ended a tree service truck.

“As you can see in the video, there is plenty of room for traffic to safely pass through the emergency scene, as did hundreds of other vehicles, however impairment due to drunk driving can lead to tragic circumstances and puts everyone at risk,” a Facebook post reads.

“Thankfully this driver did not injure or kill the emergency responders at the scene, and did not suffer significant injuries himself from rear ending the fire truck. The 49-year-old Brookfield man was arrested for first offense operating while intoxicated and recklessly endangering safety.

“Slow down, give emergency workers plenty of room, and never drive while intoxicated in order to keep everyone safe on our highways!”

The town of Chocowinity recently took delivery of its new ambulance and is set to put it in service this week.

Officials say the town has not had a new ambulance in almost a decade. Previous ambulances had frequent mechanical issues and one even broke down on the side of the road, reports washingtondailynews.com.

The ambulance has a power-load feature that automatically releases and returns stretcher wheels, which is easier on crews’ backs.

Officials estimate that the EMS team will go on upward of 3,000 calls this year.

Chocowinity EMS contacted Rep. Keith Kidwell for assistance; he secured $235,000 in COVID-19 funds.

Friday at 12:03 p.m., Wears Valley Fire Department Tanker 81 was involved in a single-vehicle accident.

The apparatus was returning to the station after responding to multiple incidents when the vehicle dropped off the shoulder of the roadway, a Facebook post reads. In attempt to correct, the vehicle then slid in a power pole before overturning. The accident occurred near the 3300 block of Covemont Lane in the Wears Valley Community.

The driver of the apparatus received injuries believed to be minor and was transported to the UT Medical Center for evaluation by the Sevier County Ambulance Service. Other responding agencies beside the Wears Valley Fire Department include: The Sevier County Ambulance Service, Sevier County Sheriffs Office, Sevier County Rescue Squad, Sevier County Electric System, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

“We would like to thank Catons Chapel/Richardsons Cove Volunteer Fire Department for loaning us an apparatus until we are able to secure a replacement!” a separate Facebook post reads.
