La Vergne (TN) Makes Way for New Fire Station

The city of La Vergne recently demolished its fire administration building, the former civic auditorium built in 1961, on Old Nashville Highway. The plan is to build a new Station 41 for La Vergne Fire Rescue.

“The new station is sorely needed as the city has seen tremendous growth over the last decade and we’ve outgrown station 41 on Stones River Road,” a Facebook post reads.

The new facility will have four bays with eight doors capable of housing seven response vehicles. It will have living and sleeping quarters for firefighters, a large instructional training room, fire administration offices, and an emergency operations center.

“While the building has served us well over the years, it’s exciting to see what will soon take its place – a brand new fire station!”

When the project is bid, the city will know its actual cost, officials say. However, there’s already $10 million budgeted for it. The aim is to have a groundbreaking in mid-August with an estimated construction time of 18 months.

Jane Lew (WV) Fire Department Restores 1946 Mack Truck

The Jane Lew Fire Department has been busy restoring its original engine—a 1946 Mack truck—and the fruits of the department’s labor have come to fruition.

The pumper was in use for a bit over 30 years. Now it has made its way back home.

“76-year difference, but the exact same commitment,” a Facebook post reads.

The apparatus was sold to Baxter Volunteer Fire Department in 1967, then used for a political campaign in the late ‘80s, and finally settled in VA in the ‘90s, according to a report in wvnews.com.

It was still pumping water around the turn of the century, and it was showcased in parades and shows, the report says.

Beech Grove (TX) Receives Land, Monetary Donations for New Station

The Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department recently received a land donation for a new station as well as a $10,000 donation.

“BGVFD Chaplin Wayne Barber has remarked many times about how blessed our volunteer fire department is. When a need is defined, a solution seems to soon follow……” a Facebook post reads.

“Well, that happened again this morning.

“As we recently announced, BGVFD has acquired the land at the intersection of FM 2799 and CR 099 to build a fire station that will serve our response area, specifically the Dixie/Bevilport Communities, land donated by the Martin Dies family. We’ve cleared the land and have begun fundraising efforts.

“Today BGVFD President Jimmy Hensarling, Vice-President Chris Lanier, and Fire Chief James Gunter met with William Seale and accepted a $10,000 donation on behalf of the Seale family, Bevilport Limited Partnership, and Lucinda Smith Seale!

“The Seale family has been deeply rooted in the Bevilport Community since 1845, owning what many of you know as Ant Hill Farm, now known as Pine Hall, which is located on CR 101.

“What a great way to kick off our fundraising efforts. Every donation counts, no matter how big or small.

“Thank you to the Seale family, and everyone who has donated to date.”
