Hamilton (MT) Green Lights New Fire Station

Firefighters in Hamilton (MT) hope to be moving into a new fire station by Fall of 2023 now that the city has approved zoning permits that will allow the new facility to be located across the street from the current building, according to a report by ABC Fox Montana.

According to the report, the current station, built in 1907 is too small, doesn’t support technology and was built before anyone had concerns about carcinogens.

The new station will be 14,000 square feet and has sufficient space to accommodate larger apparatus, according to the report, which indicated apparatus purchasing was limited to the size of what would fit in the station.

The new station will resolve a lot of issues the department has with the historic structure it currently uses, according to the report.

Meridian (ID) Is Expecting Its Seventh Fire Station to Open by Fall 2023

Meridian (ID) broke ground on the seventh station in the city and the newest facility is designed to improve response time and reduce firefighter’s carcinogen exposure, according to a report by KTVB 7.

The new fire station will be 11,500 square feet, have three apparatus bays, a work area, day room, fitness area and six sleeping rooms, the report says, noting there will be areas for decontamination as well and better ventilation to reduce the risk of firefighter cancer. A sink is included at each entry to the living area to allow firefighters to wash to help prevent cross contamination, the report says.

The station is expected to be up and running by fall of 2023, according to KTVB.
