‘Protecting Paradise’: Orange Beach (AL) Fire Department Christens $1.25M Ladder 3

The City of Orange Beach Fire Department Ladder Truck 3 went into service Tuesday at Station 3, next to Orange Beach Middle/High School. Before officially going into service, a blessing of the engine was led by Fire Chaplain Fred Franks, the city says.

The $1.25 million fire engine has a 110-foot ladder extension with a platform at the end. Before the blessing, Fire Chief Mike Kimmerling, City Administrator Ken Grimes, Jr., and Councilman Jerry Johnson said a few words. Residents and visitors alike are in good hands thanks to the public safety investments supported by Mayor Tony Kennon and council members Johnson, Annette Mitchell, Jeff Boyd (mayor pro-tem), Joni Blalock and Jeff Silvers.

By the summer of 2023, Ladder Truck 3 will be housed at the new Fire Station 3 that is under construction on Canal Road, south of The Wharf. The foundation for the four-bay station is expected to be poured soon, with building completion by next summer. In January, M. W. Rogers Construction was awarded the contract to build the new fire station with a low bid of $5.4 million. McCollough Architecture, Inc. is the project engineer.

“Paradise is a little more protected now.”
