Miami (OK) Firefighters’ Fundraisers Aim to ‘Save the Seagrave’ Antique Fire Truck

Some firefighters in Miami recently have been raising funds in an attempt to restore a 1949 Seagrave pumper. The 1949 Seagraves were equipped with 600-gallons-per-minute, front-mounted pumps and a 250- to 1,000-gallon water tank.

It’s been estimated the total restoration project will take around $15,000 to complete.

The ’49 model was bought new by the city. After life on the front line as well as a reserve, the pumper was sold at auction. It landed in Adair and was eventually sold back to Miami for the low price of $1 around 2014/2015.

(MIAMI,OK) It’s hard to say how many lives were saved by firefighters who manned Miami’s 1949 Seagrave Pumper No. 6 Fire Truck. Now Miami Firefighters and friends are working to save the 73-year-old antique firetruck and restore it for use by the department for parades and other events.

RollTek® Airbags Now Available On All REV Ambulance Group Brands

REV Group, Inc. (NYSE: REVG), which includes companies that manufacture Horton®, AEV®, Road Rescue®, Wheeled Coach® and Leader® brand ambulances, announces the RollTek airbag system, that combines side airbag protection for rollovers with the latest advances in seat belt technology, is now available on all REV ambulance brands.

The RollTek system, developed by global safety leader, IMMI®, has sensors that detect an unrecoverable rollover of a vehicle and deploys airbags in a quarter of a second to significantly reduce the potential for serious injury or death.  Extensively tested by the Center for Advanced Product Evaluation (CAPE), RollTek meets or exceeds all safety-standards for ambulances, fire apparatus and commercial truck use.*

“In 2019, we introduced IMMI’s Per4Max® seat belts as an exclusive safety feature in all our ambulance brands,” said Anoop Prakash, President, REV Ambulance Group. “We are now adding the RollTek Airbag system as an option on our AEV, Leader, Road Rescue and Wheeled Coach Type 1, Type 3 and medium-duty ambulances1 to broaden availability of another important safety feature.”

RollTek airbags were first introduced to the ambulance industry in 2008 as part of Horton Emergency Vehicle’s signature Horton Occupant Protection System® (HOPS®), combining patient compartment airbags, IMMI seat belts and Horton’s progressive foam at head strike points.  In 2019, Per4Max seat belts were introduced as standard across all REV Ambulance Group brands.  Per4Max is a multi-point restraint system with controlled deceleration that lessens crash force while allowing EMS practitioners more freedom to reach critical supplies and provide patient care, while safely buckled in.

“We’ve worked closely with REV Group on extensive testing to ensure optimal performance of RollTek in each of their unique ambulance brands,” said Larry Gray, Chief Executive Officer at IMMI. “This work is part of our longstanding partnership with REV Group and our shared commitment to increasing safety for first responders.”

Contact your local REV Ambulance Group dealer for more information and visit AEV, Horton, Wheeled Coach and Road Rescue at the Fire Department Instructors’ Conference (FDIC) International in Indianapolis, from April 28th to April 30th:
