Victim Ran Over by Prince George’s County (MD) Ambulance

A Prince George’s County (MD) EMS provider ran over a victim with the ambulance the crew had been assigned to save last month, resulting in injuries to the man’s “lower extremities,” according to a report by WUSA9.

It happened during an early morning snowstorm on January 7 in Forestville, Maryland. Both a Prince George’s County police and an internal Fire/EMS department investigation are underway.

Records obtained by the new station indicate the ambulance was called for a welfare check after a 911 call. The victim, who wasn’t identified, was lying in the middle of the snowy road.

The victim was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition by another ambulance. Authorities say the EMS provider involved in the incident passed a drug test.

The victim is alive today and is in sub-acute rehabilitation.

Atlanta (GA) Homeless Man Steals Fire Engine, Hits Car

A homeless man got into a fire engine on scene at a call for a gas leak investigation and crashed it into a parked car while apparently trying to steal it. He then ran away.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon on Neal Street in northwest Atlanta, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said. A firefighter on scene realized what was happening and interrupted the getaway, Fox 5 news reported.

No one was injured and police have found the suspect. Police say the homeless man only got so far as releasing the parking brake before he fled.
