KY Fire Departments Receive Three Apparatus, Equipment Via NY Organization

The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund over the weekend donated three fire trucks and three trailers full of equipment and gear to three Eastern KY fire departments.

Companies receiving the apparatus are the Lee County Volunteer Fire Department, the Vincent Volunteer Fire Department, and the Sandy Hook Fire Department, reports wtvq.com.

The equipment includes air tanks, turnout coats, helmets, and more, and officials say it will benefit the departments for years to come.

The organization is in New York and donates apparatus and equipment to in-need departments, especially in rural areas; Farrell was a firefighter who lost his life on 9/11, the report says.

All donations were delivered to the Lee County Volunteer Fire Department in Beattyville.

Meet the Torrington (WY) Fire Department’s New 100-Foot Tower

With help from a $1.4 million grant, the Torrington (WY) Fire Department recently took delivery of its new 43-foot-long, 10-foot-high, 8-foot-wide, 76,000-pound Pierce 100-foot tower.

The grant, via the state, paid for 75% of the project, while the department was responsible for the remainder, according to a report in starherald.com; the city paid half of that and Rural District Fire 3 paid the other half.

Once the funds were acquired, the order was submitted in November 2020, with the apparatus arriving in mid-January. It’s the department’s first aerial.

Crews have been training on the aerial recently, as you can see below:
