See Ground-Breaking Ceremony for San Bernardino County (CA) Fire Station 81

Late last month, Fontana and San Bernardino County Fire Department officials broke ground on the future site of Fire Station 81, located on Casa Grande Avenue.

“Recently, [local officials] held a ground-breaking ceremony for Fire Station 81,” the city of Fontana says. “This new fire station located along Casa Grande just west of Sierra Avenue will enhance fire department response times for the northern part of the city. The station is over 13,000 square feet on a 1.3-acre site. The building will be designed to complement the existing residential community within the Summit at Rosena Specific Plan.”

Fire Station 81 is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2023.

Hardeeville (SC) Fire Department Apparatus Involved in Fatal Crash

One person is dead after a Wednesday morning collision involving a Hardeeville Fire Department Ford F-550 fire truck, a Nissan sedan, and another Ford pickup truck in Hardeeville, reports islandpacket.com.

A 2007 Nissan and the fire apparatus were both headed north on U.S. 17 when the vehicles collided at 7:24 a.m. The crash caused the Nissan to hit a southbound 2005 Ford pickup truck.

The Nissan and fire truck were left in a ditch. The former’s driver—55-year-old Carla Dara of Ridgeland—was transported to a hospital, where she passed at 9:30 a.m., the report says. An autopsy is not yet planned but will take place.

The fire truck’s two occupants, as well as the driver of the other Ford, suffered no injuries.

SC Highway Patrol officials are investigating the crash.
