Gladstone (ND) Fire Department Purchases First Pumper Tanker in 62 Years

For the first time since 1960, the Gladstone Fire Department has purchased a new pumper tanker, reports kfyrtv.com.

Its predecessor, purchased in 1960, had been rebuilt over the years, but it had come to the end of its useful life, officials say.

The new Rosenbauer apparatus, which the department has already taken delivery of, has features that the former unit lacked: it’s higher off the ground and has four-wheel drive and connected water hoses, the report says. Also, there’s an attached tank for increased capacity and more storage space.

“Exciting new addition to our department,” the department writes on Facebook. “Thank you to the community and all entities that helped us attain this amazing truck.”

Officials say the department had been saving energy impact funds, money from fundraisers, and county support for the past five years for the purchase.
