Businesses in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood evacuated due to hazmat incident

An entire retail building in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood was evacuated on Tuesday due to an apparent hazmat incident. According to the Seattle Fire Department, the evacuation was issued as a safety precaution, and no injuries were reported. Units responded to the 400 block of Broadway Avenue East just after noon, which holds the Broadway Market shopping mall.

State-of-the-art fire facility opens to serve growing Richland community

The city of Richland is celebrating their new fire station 76! According to Richland Fire and Emergency Services, this is the sixth fire station in Richland and the fourth to include space for police presence. The new station is designed to serve the growing community, which includes expanding housing developments, vibrant parks, bustling commercial areas, and a future school.

Swauk Creek Fire Estimated at 331 Acres; 37% Contained

The Swauk Creek Fire in northwestern Kittitas County is now estimated at 331 acres. Ever since Sept. 8, the blaze has been torching brush and timber in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, about 14 miles northeast of Cle Elum. But significant progress has been made, according to Ryan Rodruck, spokesperson for the Department of Natural Resources.

Kansas City (MO) Firefighter, 10-Year Veteran, Dies in Training

A veteran firefighter-paramedic from Kansas City passed away Tuesday following a medical emergency during a training exercise.

The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. at Station 35, a high-traffic station within the city. Despite immediate medical attention and transport to the hospital, the firefighter died around 1 p.m., KMBC reports.

The firefighter, a 10-year member of the Rescue Division, was widely recognized for his dedication.

In a statement, the Kansas City Fire Department expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to his family and colleagues, offering support and grief counseling to department members, KMBC reports.
