Chehalis Selects Fire Service Veteran as Interim Fire Chief

The City of Chehalis selected Ted Hendershot, former assistant fire chief with McLane/Black Lake Fire Department in Thurston County, to serve as the interim fire chief of the Chehalis Fire Department. The city is searching for a permanent replacement after the departure of Fire Chief Ken Cardinale. Cardinale, who has been serving as both the Chehalis Fire Department Fire Chief and Lewis County Fire District 6 Interim Chief, has accepted a full-time fire chief position with LCFD6 and will be leaving the Chehalis Fire Department.

Vancouver Fire Department gears up for Project Home Safe

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office and the city’s volunteer Fire Corps will kick off its Project Home Safe fire and life safety campaign in Vancouver starting this July. Project Home Safe focuses on preventing the leading causes of residential fires in Vancouver, including unattended cooking, improper disposal of smoking materials and unattended candles.

Everett Fire thinking about shift to regional fire authority

The city is exploring making its fire department an independent taxing authority, which would largely split it off from the city’s ailing budget. Mayor Cassie Franklin has contacted neighboring jurisdictions about partnering with Everett Fire to create a regional fire authority (RFA), which would levy and collect property taxes for fire and emergency medical services.

House fire, partial collapse sends 3 Houston firefighters to the hospital

Three Houston Fire Department firefighters were taken to the hospital to be treated for the injuries they received while battling a house fire early Wednesday. The fire was reported around 2 a.m. at a home in the 8900 block of Wynmeadow, not far from Monroe and I-45. When firefighters arrived, the one-story home was already engulfed in flames.

All-female firefighter crew staffs California station for first time in history

For the first time in the history of the Pasadena Fire Department, the entire engine crew rolling out of Station 34 was female. On Tuesday, the all-female crew were under the command of Capt. Tricia Rodriguez. "FIRST all-female crew in history of Pasadena Fire Department riding together on Engine 34," a social media post picturing the four of them said.
