Police say 3 children, 2 adults dead after school bus and semitruck collide, catch fire in Illinois

Three children and two adults died after a school bus collided with a semitruck on U.S. Route 24 in Illinois on Monday, authorities said. The fatal collision between the school bus and the semitruck carrying sand happened on the highway at 11:30 a.m., local time, in Rushville, Illinois State Police said during a press briefing.

House Approves Oklahoma Bill for Free Cancer Screenings for Firefighters

The Oklahoma House of Representatives on Monday approved legislation that would offer free cancer screenings to all Oklahoma firefighters. House Bill 3573, authored by Rep. Daniel Pae, R-Lawton, would cover screenings for lung, prostate, testicular, skin, colon and breast cancers for all firefighters, including volunteer firefighters.

RV fire, exploding ammo force closure of I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass

One westbound lane of Interstate 90 near Snoqualmie Pass is left open after an RV fire forced lane closures Monday night. Both directions were closed for about 30 minutes. The eastbound lanes reopened shortly before 9 p.m. Crews had to maintain distance from the fire because of exploding ammunition, according to Eastside Fire & Rescue.

Tipped heater causes house fire in Spokane

The Spokane Fire Department (SFD) determined the cause of Sunday's structure fire to be a tipped-over heater. On Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 3:47 p.m., SFD received a call reporting smoke and fire issuing from a residence in the 2300 block of East Dalke Avenue. Firefighters arrived on the scene within three minutes of the call and entered the house.

Two dogs die in Spokane County fire started by one of the dogs

Two dogs died after one of them accidentally started a fire inside a duplex Saturday in Deer Park. Firefighters were called shortly after 11:15 a.m. to the duplex at 22 W. Crawford St., Spokane County Fire District 4 Capt. John McDonald said. McDonald said a dog inside one of the duplex units jumped onto the stove and accidentally turned on two burners, which started material on the stove on fire and spread inside the entire unit.
