FDA Moves Toward Making Overdose Antidote an Over-the-Counter Drug

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration appears poised to approve certain naloxone products for over-the-counter use, a move that would help fight the nation’s opioid epidemic. Naloxone (Narcan, Evzio) can save lives when administered soon after the first signs of an overdose from opioids such as heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone or morphine.

140-year-old Puyallup farm, home to pumpkin patch, catches fire

A barn at Pierce County farm that has been around 140 years caught fire Thursday night. According to East Pierce Fire and Rescue (EPFR), crews responded to a fire at Spooner Farms, located at 9710 WA-162 in Puyallup, just after 9:20 p.m. EPFR tweeted Friday morning that an “outbuilding/barn” was on fire.

Yakima County firefighters respond to tire fire at Renegade Raceway

Multiple Yakima County agencies are responding to a storage container tire fire at the Renegade Raceway in Wapato. Fire District 5's Deputy Chief Ken tells us that the fire is very isolated. No cause has been identified at this time.

What sparked the blaze that took out two homes in Othello? Cause revealed by fire marshal

We now know what caused the blaze that sparked a destructive fire that demolished two homes in Othello on Nov. 5. The fire happened at around 11:15 p.m. in the 2100 block of Margarett Ln. The fire started in one home and spread to the other, eventually destroying both. The incident displaced two families.

Kelso man charged with arson after work truck found burned

A Kelso man pleaded not guilty last week to deliberately setting a work truck on fire after police say he told them the vehicle had been parked on the street for too long. Ronald Edwin Smith, 57, is charged with second-degree arson after police found remnants of a fire around 8 p.m. Halloween night in the 800 block of North Seventh Avenue in Kelso.
