Follow-up: Seattle fire chief details staffing struggles, response and says public safety changes are needed

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Seattle fire chief said his department is feeling the strain of increased calls and crime in the city and has lost people from burnout as a result. In a briefing in front of the Seattle council’s public safety committee, Harold Scoggins said he’s down 125 people from a full staff and cited the increase in overdose calls, encampment fires and vacant structure responses as reasons behind it all.

Washington Department of National Resources releases new fire prevention videos

To help promote awareness and prevention of wildfires, the Washington State Department of National Resources (DNR) has released four new animated safety explainer videos. Teaming up with Next Day Animations, the DNR hopes that the videos will help reduce human-caused wildfires, as they grow larger and faster.

Schools and fire department unite to teach heart health and CPR skills to Pasco students

February is American Heart Health Month and the Pasco School District is partnering with the Pasco Fire Department to help teach elementary school kids hands-only CPR. Leaders from the Pasco Fire Department say it's never too early to teach a child how to save a life. They tell us they're starting with the basics.

VIDEO: Ambulance narrowly avoids crash with car that rolled across interstate in Massachusetts

Two paramedics in Massachusetts avoided a catastrophe while transporting a patient in an ambulance on Interstate 95 during Tuesday's nor'easter. Cataldo Ambulance Service paramedic Tim Crosbie was driving the Atlantic Ambulance Service vehicle on I-95 south in Peabody shortly before 1 p.m. when a car that was traveling on the northbound side of the highway came across the median and rolled over across multiple lanes on the southbound side.

North Texas fire department using high-tech tool to enhance skills, save lives

VIDEO: A North Texas fire department has partnered with a video game maker to create something that could help save lives and property. It's a first-of-its-kind simulator that helps firefighters do their jobs better. A battalion of Allen firefighters entered a burning home. They work as a team, communicating over radios to coordinate the best approach to put out intense flames.
