Documentary highlighting Arizona fire department’s 100-year history now available to watch

PHOTOS: A Valley fire department on Monday launched a documentary that invites viewers on a nostalgic journey, chronicling the evolution of its department from its humble beginnings to its current stature. The 45-minute documentary, “Flash Point: The History of Peoria Fire-Medical Department,” includes stories from current Fire Chief Gary Bernard and eight retired firefighters, who shared memories from their experience during the rise of the department.

Preserving history: Century-old fire lookout near Winthrop restored

In a heartwarming celebration of heritage and community spirit, the North Twentymile Lookout, a century-old beacon nestled in the heart of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, has been given a new lease on life. This June, the lookout marked its 100th anniversary with a series of repairs and a fresh coat of paint, thanks to the joint efforts of the Methow Valley Forest Fire Lookout Association (MVFFLA) and the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

Spokane Valley Fire Department receives $20,000 State Farm grant to help alleviate wildfires

The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) announced they received a $20,000 grant from State Farm to help prevent local wildland fire risks. This grant is part of the 2024 Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Fuels Reduction Program and will “look to help build a more comprehensive and sustainable wildfire mitigation program.

VIDEO: House under construction in Indiana catches fire

A house under construction caught fire late Monday night in Fishers, leaving crews scrambling to control the blaze before it spread to nearby buildings. Crews from the Fishers Fire Department were called shortly before midnight to a building fire near the Breakwater neighborhood. That’s near Brooks School Road south of East 116th Street.

Ohio fire department uses game to help prepare for emergency situations

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A big labyrinth ball game is being used as a teaching tool for some local firefighters. The maze was created by a captain in the Colerain Fire Department. It's meant to help firefighters practice using hydraulic air lifting bags. The reinforced rubber pillows can help lift cars or other heavy objects.
