Colorado: Denver's oldest serving fire station home to first Black firefighters

PHOTOS: It's known to those who served there as the "Pride of the Points." Denver Fire Station 3. The oldest Denver firehouse still in service, built in 1931. And the only station where Black firefighters were assigned until the Denver Fire Department desegregated in 1957. Today the children of these earliest public servants have a deep appreciation for Station 3's commitment to excellence, and the pride that came in serving Denver's Five Points community.

Fire suppression foam 'inadvertently' released around one of United Airlines' hangars at Texas airport

VIDEO: Cleanup is expected to last through Thursday night into Friday morning after fire suppression foam was "inadvertently" released at about 5:30 a.m. at one of the United Airlines hangars that dot a public service road at Bush Intercontinental Airport. It happened just off Wright Road, in a hangar adjacent to the flight attendant training facility.

Fundraiser started for family of West Richland firefighter after his sudden death at 37

West Richland firefighters are reeling from the death of one of their own Friday after he collapsed at home. Benton County Fire District 4 Lt. Aaron Meloy, 37, was discovered at his Cottonwood Loop home in Richland about 11 a.m. An autopsy was conducted over the weekend because of his age and the circumstances of his death, Coroner Bill Leach said.

Seattle Fire Department: Smoking likely cause of Capitol Hill apartment blaze that sent one to hospital

Firefighters rescued one person and quickly knocked down an apartment fire believed to have been caused by improperly discarded smoking materials Wednesday, the Seattle Fire Department says. Crews were called to the address of the Caroline W. apartments around 11:20 AM to a report of a fire on the second floor of the five-story building developed by the Community House mental health agency as housing for tenants recovering from homelessness and mental illness.
