Pennsylvania lawmakers have sent a new bill designed to improve safety in state-regulated childcare facilities to Governor Tom Wolf's desk, the General Assembly announced Wednesday. Introduced by Republican State Sen. Dan Laughlin, Senate Bill 563 was crafted in response to a fire that killed five children in Erie three years ago, according to Senate Republicans.

Nearly half of firefighter job-related deaths across the country caused by sudden cardiac events, according to Missouri study

According to a report, nearly half of all firefighter duty-related deaths across the country are caused by sudden cardiac deaths. The Springfield Fire Department says education is crucial in prevention. Springfield Fire Department’s Division Chief Kelly Ash says physical fitness is also crucial, with the department dedicating an hour a day to keeping firefighters in shape.

First big wildfire of the season ignites in Grant County

Marysville Fire Marshal appointed to CPSE commission

Marysville Fire District Deputy Chief and Fire Marshal Tom Maloney has been appointed to the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) Commission on Professional Credentialing. The commission reviews fire officers applying for a designation through CPSE. Maloney will serve as the commission’s Fire Prevention representative.

Seattle: Driver was reportedly in crisis before crashing into Georgetown building, causing fire

A car collided with a commercial building, causing a two-alarm fire in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood on Wednesday morning. The Seattle Fire Department tweeted crews were responding to the site of the collision near the 700 block of South Michigan Street. As of 7:07 a.m., the fire had been extinguished.
