Everett principal’s house burns down south of Granite Falls

An Everett high school principal’s house burned down Sunday morning near Granite Falls. Now, supporters are raising money to help Sequoia High School Principal Belinda Mountjoy. Around 8:30 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 4900 block of Lerch Road, about 3½ miles south of Granite Falls, District 17 Assistant Fire Chief Bill Dane said.

Governor thanks Washington EMD, FEMA for disaster-related work

On Wednesday, Gov. Jay Inslee thanked dozens of employees of the Washington Emergency Management Division and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. For the past four years, the agencies have operated a joint field office in Lacey, where they oversaw multiple federally declared disasters and distributed billions of dollars in aid to those who needed it.

Walla Walla firefighter dies while on duty

A Walla Walla Fire Department (WWFD) firefighter died while on duty on Sunday morning. According to WWFD, Fire Engineer Ryan Pleasants died while he was working. Pleasants worked for WWFD for 20 years. WWFD first hired Pleasants as a firefighter and medic in 2005. The fire department later promoted Pleasants in July 2023.

VIDEO: Tanker fire in New Jersey destroys used car dealership, disrupts traffic

A tanker truck overturned on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, erupting into a ball of flames. It happened around 5:40 a.m. Monday on Route 17 South not far from Teterboro Airport. The tanker and another car got into a crash, but amazingly, both drivers were able to escape their vehicles. The tanker plowed into a used car dealership, causing it to catch fire.

City in Pennsylvania moves forward with consolidation of six fire companies

PHOTOS: The Sunbury Fire Department will consolidate all six fire departments in the city, a long overdue move according to officials. The efforts to consolidate began years ago and fizzled out. In the summer of 2021, the idea was revisited after some chiefs said bringing the six companies together under one roof just made sense.
