Fleet’s Out as Pottstown (PA) Fire Department Shows Off New Squad 69

To honor the arrival of its new pumper/rescue, Squad 69, the Pottstown Fire Department Monday displayed its entire fleet at borough hall for public viewing.

The new apparatus cost $585,000, reports timesherald.com, and it is now one of three owned by the borough.

The truck will be housed at the Goodwill fire and ambulance station on High Street; its predecessor will be kept in reserve, officials say.

The apparatus has a 750-gallon tank and a retro design.

1 person found dead after massive fire at New Jersey waste management facility

Hand pumper returned home to Pennsylvania fire company after years of searching

People lined the streets of Kutztown for the long-anticipated return of a hand pumper used to fight fires in the mid 1800's. "Joel Bates built approximately 27 hand pumpers between the 1820's and 1850's," says Jeremy Bellois, history buff formerly of Kutztown Fire Company, who currently runs with Allentown Fire Dept.

AT&T Launches New Location-Based Routing System for 9-1-1 Calls in the United States

AT&T on Tuesday announced the launch of its new location-based routing to automatically transmit wireless 9-1-1 calls to the appropriate 9-1-1 call centers on a nationwide basis. AT&T can quickly and more accurately identify where a wireless 9-1-1 call is coming from using device GPS and hybrid information to route the call to the correct 9-1-1 call center, also known as public safety answering point or PSAP.
