Study Shows Increased Rates of Dementia in 9/11 Responders with More Exposure to Toxins

Evidence that Word Trade Center (WTC) responders during 9/11 and its aftermath have since suffered poorer brain health than others not exposed to WTC toxins has mounted in recent years. A new study led by Stony Brook University researchers that evaluates more than 5,000 WTC responders indicates that those who had more exposures to WTC-related toxins have dementia at a higher rate than other responders with fewer WTC-related toxic exposures.

6 apartment units destroyed by fire in Vancouver

Evacuation notices upgraded as the Pioneer Fire continues to burn just north of Chelan

The evacuation levels have been upgraded on the Pioneer Fire, a now 1,468-acre fire burning on the north shore of Lake Chelan since June 8. According to Chelan County Emergency Management, the Rex Creek area remains under a Level 3 evacuation, which means anyone in the area should leave immediately.

Two people sent to hospital, cat dies in Edmonds complex fire

More than 50 firefighters from 13 different fire agencies responded to an apartment complex fire in Edmonds on Wednesday afternoon. Neighbors say the fire started at around 12:30 p.m. at a building near the corner of 236th St. SW and 80th Ave. W. This area is just a few blocks west of Ballinger Park.
