Colorado firefighter sets Guinness World Record

Being a firefighter requires a certain amount of mental and physical strength. Let’s face it: They don’t put these guys and gals on calendars for no reason. But it’s a part of the job Hygiene firefighter Dylan Miraglia takes more seriously than some. “It’s a physical job, it’s a blue-collar job,” Miraglia said.

Whatcom County assistant fire chief dies in line of duty

Whatcom County Fire District 7 has announced that Assistant Fire Chief Dean Crosswhite died Wednesday after a battle with renal cell carcinoma. This is the second line of duty death in Whatcom County Fire District 7's 105-year history. According to the fire district, Chief Crosswhite spent 28 years in the fire service, joining Whatcom County District 7 in 1995.

Fires damages 6 buildings in Friday Harbor's historic downtown

VIDEO: Fire crews have controlled Thursday morning's fire in downtown Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, now they are trying to salvage what they can to find out what caused the fire. According to the Public Information Officer, six structures were damaged-- three of deemed a total loss. Multiple businesses nearby remain closed due to smoke damage.

One dog dies in Benton City fire

Multiple agencies responded to a residential fire on Irene Avenue in Benton City around 3:30 p.m. on April 7. Upon arrival, the single-family home was fully on fire. The first unit on scene sounded a second alarm. In total, seven engines and more than 20 firefighters responded to the scene. Benton County Fire District 2, Benton County Fire District 4 and Richland Fire Department all responded.

See Ground-Breaking Ceremony for San Bernardino County (CA) Fire Station 81

Late last month, Fontana and San Bernardino County Fire Department officials broke ground on the future site of Fire Station 81, located on Casa Grande Avenue.

“Recently, [local officials] held a ground-breaking ceremony for Fire Station 81,” the city of Fontana says. “This new fire station located along Casa Grande just west of Sierra Avenue will enhance fire department response times for the northern part of the city. The station is over 13,000 square feet on a 1.3-acre site. The building will be designed to complement the existing residential community within the Summit at Rosena Specific Plan.”

Fire Station 81 is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2023.
