EMS company in Ohio recruits Australian trainees to fill need

While businesses across every industry are in dire need of workers, the paramedic workforce is especially thin right now. Spirit EMS in Greenville has struggled due to the shortage but got creative with finding a solution. That sent the company to another continent to find the employees it needs. After partnering with an EMS recruiting firm, three Aussies are now Greenville residents, moving around the world to help address the emergency workforce shortage.

Santa's sleigh from ‘Elf' arrives in New York City for fan photos

VIDEO: The sleigh from the movie "Elf" traveled through the seven levels of the candy cane forest, past the sea of twirly-swirly gumdrops and then down the Long Island Expressway and through the Midtown Tunnel. The 18-foot, one-ton sleigh -- with the Clausometer on the dashboard and Kringle 3000 jet turbine engine mounted underneath -- returned to Manhattan on Sunday for the first time since Buddy the Elf helped save Christmas two decades ago.

Person unaccounted for after fire at historic Bellingham Fairhaven Terminal Building

PHOTOS: One person is reportedly unaccounted for after the historic Fairhaven Terminal Building caught fire late Saturday night. Bellingham Fire Department (BFD) responded to the fire just before midnight and found the building on Harris Avenue fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival. BFD attempted to enter the building, but were forced to exit due to the second floor's potential collapse.

No Injuries But Multiple Units Damaged After Fire At Farwest Motel In Everett

PHOTOS: Just after 11:00 PM Friday night, Sno911 began receiving reports of a fire at the Farwest Motel in the 6000 block of Evergreen Way in Everett, Washington. Arriving Everett Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the building nearest Evergreen Way and upgraded the call to a confirmed commercial fire bringing in crews from Mukilteo and South County to assist.

Everett 10-year-old saves family from fire after smoke alarms don’t go off

The front porch of an Everett home caught on fire just after midnight on Sunday, according to a news release from the Everett Police Department. A 10-year-old discovered the fire and told the parents. All six family members were able to self-evacuate, The fire was in the 2300 block of Walnut Street.
