Training together after One October helped Las Vegas emergency crews respond to UNLV shooting efficiently

VIDEO: Emergency crews across Las Vegas knew exactly how to handle an active shooter because they did it before on October 1, 2017. After 60 people were killed, departments across Clark County studied what could have been done differently. Departments developed specific protocol and training in the years following what would become the deadliest mass shooting in the country.

Connecticut fire department warns of Christmas tree fires

Life Saving Devices Planned for Badger Mountain in Richland

Benton County Parks and the Richland Fire Department are partnering on a program to install automated external defibrillators (AED) on Badger Mountain. The use of an AED on the chest of an individual suffering from cardiac arrest offers the best chance for survival if used within four minutes. "If that patient is unresponsive and not breathing normally, start CPR, grab an AED, apply it and if they need shock, that AED is going to shock them.

Nobody injured in Spokane garage fire

Nobody was injured in a garage fire Friday morning. Around 8:30 am, Spokane Firefighters asked people to stay out of the area of Maple St. and Maxwell Ave. for a structure fire. An official on scene told NonStop Local nobody was inside the garage when the fire started. The fire has since been put out.

Whatcom County Search and Rescue raising funds for new building in Everson

Whatcom County Search and Rescue needs a new home.Treasurer Gwynne Top says they are raising funds for a new building to house equipment for their six units. Those include mountain rescue, swift-water rescue, snowmobile, four-wheel-drive, horse and canine units. They are known for backcountry rescues but also help with other searches such as for lost kids and dementia patients.
