Missouri fire department braces for chimney fire calls with special bucket of tools

VIDEO: The Lemay Fire Protection District has responded to so many chimney fires over the years that the department’s firefighters have created their own bucket of tools designed specifically for chimney-related fires. The bucket is made of metal, which gives firefighters a safe place to deposit hot embers.

The country's electric car hotspots, mapped

Much of the country's electric vehicle (EV) use is concentrated in the "four corners" of California, the Pacific Northwest, the Northeast and the Southeast, according to data shared with Axios. Two glaring exceptions? Colorado and Hawai'i. The data, from mobility analytics platform Replica, is based on estimated EV miles traveled per 1,000 residents at the county level on a typical weekday in the second quarter of 2023.

Woman steals Seattle firefighter's credit card, spends $8,500 at Bellevue Square

Bellevue police are asking for the public's help locating a woman they say stole a Seattle firefighter's wallet, racking up $8,500 worth of purchases at the Bellevue Square Mall. Neil Junkin is a firefighter with the Seattle Fire Department (SFD). He runs a business on the side where he puts up Christmas lights for the elderly in his community.

Firefighters in Everett battle blaze at abandoned building

Firefighters with the Everett Fire Department put out a fire at an abandoned building early Thursday morning, according to Everett Fire. At about 7:32 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to the report of smoke in the 2100 block of West Casino Road. While firefighters worked the scene, both directions of West Casino Road were closed to drivers.

Moses Lake Fire Department awarded $50,000 for advance hazmat breathing equipment
