Vancouver Fire Department levy ahead

The Vancouver Fire Department’s fire and emergency services may receive about $15 million annually in property taxes with preliminary voter approval of Proposition 2. As of Tuesday, Clark County Elections reported that 52.73 percent of voters approved the measure, with 47.27 percent opposing. Clark County Elections estimated that about 17,000 ballots remained to be tallied as of Tuesday evening, with voter turnout at only 21.

Southeast Thurston Fire Authority Among Those Finding Finance Options Through Treasurer's Program

The Southeast Thurston Fire Authority needs to purchase a new ambulance, and has sought help from the state treasurer’s Local Option Capital Asset Lending (LOCAL) Program to find financing options for the purchase. The LOCAL Program helps districts across the state find financing for a variety of projects.

VIDEO: Crews battle large fire at Oklahoma apartment complex

A massive apartment fire has been burning in northwest Oklahoma City since early Tuesday evening. Around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, crews responded to a fire at The Canton at Classen Curve near Northwest 63rd Street and Grand Avenue near the Nichols Hills area. Firefighter Residency Restrictions Lifted In One Pennsylvania City

City residency requirements have been lifted for Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire firefighters. That is the ruling of a neutral arbitrator who has determined the city did not have the right to restrict residency. The arbitrator has now issued a cease and desist order on the city’s enforcement of residency for its firefighters.
