Three firefighters were injured after two giant store signs came crashing down at the scene of a fire in Washington Heights. Flames broke out at 1281 St Nicholas Ave. near 174th Street just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The firefighters had just finished putting out a fire that swept through the stores - a snack shop and a beauty salon.

Preliminary information from stringer service OnSceneTV indicates the takeover occurred at the intersection of 18th and Main streets before 3 a.m. Saturday. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed the location and stated that upwards of 50 cars were present.

The Fire US Forest Service is reporting minimal growth for the lightning caused South Fork Fire burning 25 miles southwest of Naches. Fire activity is low and suppression activities were aided by moisture received over the fire area on Saturday, June 29. Due to improved mapping, the fire is estimated to be 27 acres.
