Residential outdoor burn ban issued in Yakima County

The Yakima County Fire Marshal has issued a residential burn ban, effective throughout the summer. The county-wide burn ban for unincorporated Yakima County is effective Wednesday, June 12, 2024, to Monday, September 30, 2024, according to Yakima County. The burn ban is due to dry conditions and the potential for wildfires and aims to ensure that human-caused fires will not divert the resources needed to fight wildfires.

Spokane's Grove fire 10% contained as firefighting and evacuations continue

VIDEO: The Grove Fire in the Spokane Geiger Heights area has now been contained 10% as fire crews attack the flames for another day. The fire broke out on Monday afternoon, burning around 75 acres of land and prompting Level 3 (Go Now!) evacuations for residents in the area. As of Wednesday morning, the Level 2 (Be Ready) evacuations were still in place for residents.

Sandy Hook survivors will graduate high school today and remember the classmates they lost in 1st grade massacre

High school seniors Emma Ehrens and Grace Fischer will hear their names read out today as they are called to collect their diplomas and start the next chapter of their lives. But they are also steeling themselves to hear 20 other names of former classmates who never got to leave first grade, let alone plan for college and grow into adulthood.

The new century brought great change for the Utica Fire Department in New York
