Finalists named for chief of Clallam County Fire District 3

Four finalists are being considered for the next chief of Clallam County Fire District 3. Finalists were announced on Nov. 7. They are: Ronald Martin, current mass care coordinator for Lee County Board of County Commissioners in Florida; J. Kevin Nalder, most recently fire chief for the City of Palm Springs, Calif.

Man rescued from burning RV at Marysville mobile home park critically injured

A man who was inside an RV in Marysville when it caught fire is in the hospital with critical injuries. Marysville Fire District firefighters were dispatched to a mobile home park in central Marysville shortly after 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday and arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from the RV. Inside the RV, firefighters found a man in his 50s who had suffered smoke inhalation.

VIDEO: Large fire envelops abandoned motel in North Carolina

An abandoned motel went up in flames in Gastonia Monday night. Authorities on the scene say the blaze started as a call for a dumpster fire in the 500 block of Cox Road around 8 p.m. on Nov. 20. But when firefighters from the Gastonia Fire Department arrived, they saw the flames shooting in the air and upgraded it to a commercial fire.

Navy aircraft overshoots Marine Corps Base Hawaii runway, ends up in bay; 9 crew members safe

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Emergency crews responded to Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) after a US Navy jet overshot the runway and ended up in Kaneohe Bay, military officials said. The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) sent out the initial alert just after 2 p.m. for a "probable aircraft fire incident." According to a spokesperson at MCBH, a US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft was landing at the base when it overshot the landing field and landed in the Bay.
