The inaugural Disaster Management Symposium was conducted Nov. 8, when consecutive hour-long webinars featured expert panelists exploring various aspects of the three main phases of a disaster for public safety and governments: planning, response and recovery. This virtual symposium was a joint effort of American City & County, IWCE’s Urgent Communications and IWCE.

PHOTO: Six residents in North Spokane had a car drive through the front of their home. On Nov. 16 around 8:30 a.m., the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) were dispatched to a technical rescue at a home near 2800 North Wellesley Avenue. As crews arrived, they saw that an SUV had driven through a fence and into the front of the home.

VIDEO: First responders described the scene of the deadly crash on I-70 Tuesday as something they have never experienced before and something they hope to never experience again. They said those hours were filled with tough decisions. Several witnesses called 911 to alert them of the crash. One of the 911 calls came from a woman who was riding on the charter bus filled with more than 50 students and chaperones from Tusky Valley schools.
