VIDEO: Newly released body camera footage shows response to encampment explosion outside Seattle hospital

PHOTOS: Newly released body camera videos show the emergency response to an explosion at a homeless encampment outside Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The explosion and subsequent fire happened on the morning of July 21 after witnesses in the encampment reported finding what they believed were improvised explosive devices around a tent where drug users were smoking fentanyl.

‘Freak accident’: Kansas fire chief recalls explosion that engulfed him in flames

Russell fire chief Dylan Riedel now owns the motorcycle gas tank that changed his life forever when it exploded and engulfed him in flames this summer. It’s “just as a constant reminder that your life can change in an instant, so don’t take it for granted,” he said. The explosion happened less than 30 seconds after he got out of his fire truck.

Seattle: Investigation underway after fire set in Belltown's Taqueria Cantina restaurant

VIDEO: Late Saturday night, crews were called to put out a fire inside Taqueria Cantina, a lively and inclusive Belltown eatery known for its popular brunches featuring drag queen performances. No one was injured, according to the Seattle Fire Department and firefighters got the fire under control. But the cantina's co-owner Daniel Ceballos believes the fire was intentionally set, and he said, now, he is left wondering why someone would “put it up into flames.

One person evaluated after synagogues evacuated in South Seattle for hazmat response

Crews with the Seattle Fire Department evacuated two synagogues in South Seattle after reports that suspicious envelopes arrived via mail. Around 5 p.m., a hazmat response was sent to the 6500 block of 52nd Avenue South, near Seward Park. They were also sent to the 5400 block of Wilson Avenue South.
