Oakville Fire District to be awarded $1,000 to support local children this Christmas

Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI) announced they will be presenting “Oakville Firefighters for Families” a check for $1,000. GGHI will present the check as well as a collection of toys to help begin filling Santa’s bag. This presentation will be in partnership with the Association of Washington Business (AWB).

Henderson (NV) Fire Department Breaks Ground on Station 87

The Henderson (NV) Fire Department recently broke ground on Station 87, and its construction won’t increase taxes, reports news3lv.com.

Station 87—an 11,000-square-foot, three-bay facility to be built in the 2,200-acre Cadence community, east of Boulder Highway—will cover upwards of 12,000 residential units, the report says.

Pelham (AL) Fire Station Construction Behind Schedule

A Pelham (AL) fire station which was supposed to open months ago remains under construction due to the supply chain constraints, reports abc3340.com.

Crews working on the project, currently at more than 90 days behind schedule, have struggled to get materials such as structural steel, appliances, and even the station’s generator, the report says.

Medina (NY) Fire Department to Apply for Two FEMA Grants

Medina (NY) officials are seeking two FEMA grants to upgrade the fire department’s apparatus and equipment, reports orleanshub.com.

Fire officials say the department will seek one grant to replace 31-year-old Engine 10, which does not meet NFPA standards, the report says. Replacing the apparatus would cost around $700,000 with the federal share of $666,667 and a village share of $33,333, if approved.

The department also eyes an Operations and Safety Grant to replace 25 pagers, 25 portable radios, and 10 mobile radios, which would cost $94,500—$90,000 federal share and a village contribution of $4,500, according to the report.

The deadline to apply is December 17.
