Kentucky fire station unveils plans for their 2023 Christmas card

PHOTOS: ‘Tis almost the season and the firefighters at Owensboro Fire Department’s Station #5 are gearing up for another edition of holly and jolly hijinks. Over the last decade, the station has been creating some hilarious Christmas greetings and they’re already planning their 2023 card. Fire district milestone: Vashon Island Fire District’s Station 56 in Burton opens for business

PHOTO: Vashon Island Fire District’s Station 56, located in Burton, went live on Oct. 23, a week ahead of its anticipated official opening on Nov. 1. A rotating shift of two career firefighters is now in place around the clock, residing in a new modular housing unit that is just steps away from the station’s fire apparatus bay.

Runaway barge at Seattle waterfront secured by U.S. Coast Guard amid high winds

VIDEO: A runaway barge caused by high winds at the Seattle waterfront has been secured by the U.S. Coast Guard. The Coast Guard confirmed the barge drifted from Terminal 18 and made contact with Pier 66 in Elliot Bay just before 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The Coast Guard said it will be doing a damage assessment at the pier.

Funding will expand South County Fire’s community paramedic program

South County Fire will use nearly $1 million in outside funding to expand community paramedic services that help reduce 911 calls and emergency room visits, according to a news release. Community resource paramedics connect frequent 911 callers with social services and other resources to meet their often complex needs.
