Union calls on city to find accommodations for unvaccinated Moses Lake firefighters

Firefighters are used to stressful situations, running into fires, saving buildings and people. The vaccine mandate was another type of stress for firefighter Mike Miner. “There’s a lot of stuff I brought to my faith. And, it just didn’t sit right with me,” Miner said. It was between losing his job and not being able to provide for his family or get vaccinated against his faith, which he didn’t feel comfortable disclosing.

Bolton (CT) Moves Closer to Buying New Fire Truck

Voters in Bolton (CT) moved one step closer to purchasing a new fire truck for the fire department by supporting a bond for a new pumper-tanker, according to a report published by the Journal Inquirer.

The newspaper reported the vote on Tuesday, Oct. 19, was 51 to 3 to support the bond, paving the ay for a referendum vote on Nov. 2 for final approval of the purchase. The paper added the referendum will determine if the voters want to spend up to $810,000 for a new pumper-tanker and the issuance of $630,000 in bonds to partially finance that appropriation.

If approved, the new apparatus will replace the town’s current main truck, which is about 30 years old, according to the newspaper, adding the new truck will have a 1,000-gallon water tank and a 1,500 gallons-per-minute pump.

The town has been considering the purchase of a new truck for about five years, the newspaper reported, adding that if voters reject any of the multiple steps required to make the capital project, the whole proposal would be void and no truck would be purchased.
