PHOTOS: This Saturday, fans from around the world will converge at New York City’s Hook & Ladder 8 Firehouse to celebrate Ghostbusters Day, but before Tribeca is overrun with unlicensed nuclear accelerators and replica Ecto-1s, a bit of maintenance was due. In today’s update, the famed film location, which doubles as the big-screen headquarters of the Ghostbusters, received a slight exterior refresh as the unique no-ghost logos that adorn the sidewalk were touched up, making the bucket-list-worthy location even more perfect for photo-ops.

Good Earth recalls 1.2 million lights after multiple fires and 1 death

More than 1.2 million Good Earth Rechargeable integrated Lights sold nationwide are being recalled due to multiple fires — one deadly — as the product's battery can overheat and ignite its plastic casing, according to a notice posted Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. One person died and another was treated for smoke inhalation when the product overheated and caused a fire in their home last year, according to Mount Prospect, Illinois-based Good Earth.

Home burns to the ground, 2 others damaged in large fire near Bremerton

Update: With new ordinance in place, who will pay to demolish unsafe, vacant buildings in Seattle?

VIDEO: A new push is now officially underway to make Seattle neighborhoods safer from vacant building fires. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell signed a new ordinance into effect that gives the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) the authority to order the demolition of unsafe, vacant buildings. The idea is to remove these dangerous structures, not only to prevent fire but to also protect firefighters from injury or death and to prevent these fires from spreading to neighboring structures.
