One Central Illinois fire department is considering the implementation of fees for one of its services. The Village of Savoy is set to vote on a new ordinance that would specifically affect non-emergency calls at assisted living facilities within the village. The non-emergency service would primarily be lift assistance.

The Superior Fire Department will offer fire prevention training for home-schooled children in first through fifth grade from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 17, Oct. 18 and Oct. 19. Voters in the Newman Lake Fire District are again being asked to approve an increase in the amount of property taxes they pay for fire and emergency medical services. The November ballot measure comes after voters rejected two other levies in the last 15 months. Newman Lake Fire Chief Daron Bement says his department is lagging far behind in what it’s allowed to collect in property taxes.
