Update: With new ordinance in place, who will pay to demolish unsafe, vacant buildings in Seattle?

VIDEO: A new push is now officially underway to make Seattle neighborhoods safer from vacant building fires. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell signed a new ordinance into effect that gives the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) the authority to order the demolition of unsafe, vacant buildings. The idea is to remove these dangerous structures, not only to prevent fire but to also protect firefighters from injury or death and to prevent these fires from spreading to neighboring structures.

1 dead after crash, fire in which vehicle fell 40 feet off ramp in Massachusetts

Maine first responders are using a new device to transport newborns and mothers to the hospital

VIDEO: A new device is being implemented in fire departments across the state of Maine, keeping the first few moments of birth special for newborns and their mothers. First responders of the Portland Fire Department first noticed a dilemma after assisting with an on-scene birth in early 2024.
