East Wenatchee Brush Fire Held to 2 1/2 Acres

The skies above East Wenatchee are clear again after a brush fire sent of short-lived column of smoke into the air just after 3:15 Friday afternoon. The 2.5 acre fire was east of 27th Street and North Baker Avenue in grass and brush. Crews from Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County Fire District 1 responded and had the fire knocked down by about 4:00 pm.

Clark County Fire District 6 helps celebrate volunteer's 100th birthday

Members of Clark County Fire District 6 joined in on the birthday festivities for Alvera Kelly as she turned 100 years old earlier this month. She was married to Glenn Kelly, the first paid career firefighter for District 6. Her party on Aug. 1 was held at the Salmon Creek United Methodist Church. “She was so thrilled to see the firemen show up.

Spokane County firefighter died fighting brush fire

An 18-year veteran of Spokane County Fire District No. 9 died Thursday at the scene of a brush fire, the firefighting agency reported. Cody Traber was “fatally wounded” after he fell from the Wandermere Bridge while responding to the scene of a reported brush fire, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office told KHQ News.

Waconia (MN) Picks Site for New Fire Station

The city council in Waconia (MN) have selected a site for a new fire station citing response time as one of the deciding factors, according to a report published by the Sun Patriot Newspapers.

According to the report, the new station will be built just west of Highway 284 near the intersection of West 10th Street.

The city has been planning to build a new fire station since 2018 and has funds appropriated for the project which ranges from $6 million to $8 million, according to the report. The next steps will be to finalize the report and project development plans, the newspaper said.

Woman, children saved from burning SUV north of Leavenworth

A woman and three children were pulled out of a burning SUV Wednesday evening near Leavenworth. Chelan County Fire District 3 told our news partner Newsradio 560 KPQ that the SUV crashed into a gully at about 5 p.m. near the 16000 block of Chumstick Highway. A passerby came upon the wreck and noticed the woman unconscious behind the wheel, and three children in the back seat.
