Small plane with parachute goes down in Bellevue’s Newport Hills neighborhood

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A small plane equipped with a parachute came down in the Newport Hills neighborhood in Bellevue Tuesday afternoon. Officials said the plane left Renton on a training flight at around 5 p.m. and then went down in the 6500 block of 127th Avenue Southeast after its engine failed minutes later.

Samish Island residents celebrate fire station's solar project

Samish Island residents and Puget Sound Energy staff gathered Tuesday to celebrate a recently-installed solar panel and battery system at the Samish Island fire station. Samish Island resident Bob Pavia first took on the project in 2018. Spurred by the idea of finding a way to support the fire station in case of an emergency or power outage, Pavia reached out to Skagit County Fire District 5, which operates the station, and Puget Sound Energy for a solution.

Memorial in Olympia for firefighters in the works with bill passage

A bill to reconstruct a memorial for fallen firefighters is waiting on Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s signature. Supporters of the bill, including lawmakers who are firefighters, gathered in Olympia to highlight the bill’s passage. The memorial will honor nearly 300 Washington firefighters who have died in the line of duty since 1891, according to the Fallen Firefighter Foundation.

Spokane Valley man thanks firefighters for saving his life

VIDEO: Two weeks ago, 65-year-old Brad Holyoak's life changed. "Just like that, as fast as snapping your fingers," Holyoak said. "I was dead and they brought me back to life, that's something I won't forget." He went into cardiac arrest in his Spokane Valley home, falling unconscious into his bathtub face first.

VIDEO: Missouri fire station, entire fleet of trucks lost in massive fire

PHOTOS: Early Tuesday morning about 5:30 a.m., fire was reported at the fire station in town. “The firehouse has burned. It is a total loss,” Shannon County First Responders state in a release of information. “Devastating way to begin a day, Eminence Area Volunteer Fire Department lost their entire station and equipment this morning,” states Missouri State Fire Marshal Tim Bean.
