Latest exhibit at Sigal Museum traces history of firefighting in one Pennsylvania county

The latest installation coming to the Sigal Museum is going to be about more than just hoses and firetrucks. “Even if you think you know the story of firefighting, there will be something here to surprise you,” said the museum’s curator of exhibitions, Tim Betz. The exhibit titled “Forged by Fire: The Heroism, Honor and History of Firefighting,” is scheduled to open to the public on Sept.

Wisconsin fire chief settles wager by washing ladder truck

Body-cam footage shows officers rescuing residents from roof of burning Algona home

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Body-cam footage from an Algona police officer showed the moments residents were rescued from a burning building on Sunday, Sept. 10. “This was a very dangerous situation for those residents, and our officer had to respond quickly to help ensure everyone was evacuated safely,” said Algona Police Chief James Schrimpsher.

1 dead, 1 injured in Longview house fire

One person is dead and another is injured after an early morning house fire on Tuesday in Longview, officials said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Longview Fire says they believe the fire originated from the home’s kitchen stove. “Cooking continues to be the leading cause of reported home fires and home fire injuries and is the second leading cause of home fire deaths in the United States,” said Longview Fire Marshal Jon Dunaway.

Investigation finds BNSF Railway at fault for Tunnel Five Fire in Skamania County

On July 2, just east of BNSF Railway Tunnel 5 in Skamania County, a blaze eventually designated as the Tunnel 5 Fire was ignited. Burning adjacent to heavily traveled Washington State Route 14 in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, the fire consumed more than 500 acres and destroyed 10 structures, most of them private residences.
