Fire destroys potato storage shed near Moses Lake

A potato storage shed near Moses Lake was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters from the Moses Lake Fire Department and Grant County Fire Districts 4 and responded to the commercial structure fire reported in the area of Road O Northeast and Wheeler Road, east of Moses Lake. Grant PUD had to cut power to the area to keep firefighters safe, affecting customers form Road N Northeast to Road Q Northeast and Road 3 Northeast to Road 5 Northeast.

Chelan Hills Acres Tract Fire In Orondo Held To Three Acres

Just before 6 pm a wildland fire was reported at the Chelan Hills Acres Tracts development in Orondo one mile south of the Beebe Bridge. Smoke was visible for several miles when the fire was reported. The High Corner fire was located 5 miles beyond the State Highway up in the top of the Columbia River Bluffs.

Gear Stolen from Cal Fire, PG&E Trucks

Thousands of dollars worth of equipment was stolen earlier this month from Cal Fire and PG&E trucks, reports Merced Sun-Star.

The two trucks were broken into between about 7:30 p.m. September 9 and 3:45 a.m. September 10. The stolen equipment is worth about $10,000.

Authorities ask anyone with information on the burglaries or stolen equipment to contact the Placer County Sheriff’s Office or to submit an anonymous tip through Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers.

Colorado Springs (CO) Firefighter Injured in Fire Apparatus Accident

A Colorado Springs firefighter was injured after a fire engine was involved in an accident, reports KOAA News 5.

Fire officials have confirmed that debris from a construction vehicle fell off the truck, striking the passenger side of the fire truck.

The impact left a firefighter with undisclosed injuries.

Hamden (OH) VFD Welcomes Fire Apparatus

The Hamden Volunteer Fire Department has received a new fire truck after years of fundraising, reports Vinton Jackson Courier.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Tonight the members of Hamden Fire Department took delivery of a brand new 2020 Rosenbauer Timberwolf. I would like to thank all the members of the department for their hard work and dedication. This truck is being purchased with fund raised by a weekly bingo and other fundraising opportunities for a total amount of $415,000.00. No tax money’s are being used to pay for this. This truck will replace a 1997 Smeal and will respond to car accidents, vehicle fires, and rubbish fires along with other incidents that require additional equipment. It is an honor and a privilege to lead an extraordinary group of people. Please join me in congratulating them on this achievement.”

The department also plans to sell the 1997 Smeal truck that the Timberwolf replaced.
