Firefighters from Columbia and Walla Walla Counties managed to contain a roaring fire at the Eagles Lodge before it could spread to neighboring historic buildings. The blaze broke out at approximately 3:00 PM on Tuesday afternoon on Main Street. Columbia County Fire District #3 handled the call initially.

Moses Lake Fire Department responded Tuesday evening to a sagebrush fire, which started in a shelterless encampment behind Ten Pin Inn & Suites (1157 N. Stratford Road). MLFD Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Derek Beach said the department received the call around 6:30 p.m., while several crews were on their way back from a structure fire, which a sprinkler system was able to control, when the call came in.

A two-alarm fire in a vacant building sent smoke billowing into the sky Tuesday afternoon near the Seattle Center. According to the Seattle Fire Department, crews were called around 4:00 p.m. to 5th Ave N and Harrison St. Crews believed that the building was vacant and later said that they used thermal imaging and did not find signs of anyone inside.

Construction has started on a third fire station for the Barrington-Countryside Fire District, reports Lake & McHenry County Scanner.

Station 39 is being built and the project will be completed early next year. Station 39 will enable the Barrington-Countryside fire district to respond to more than 90% of all emergency calls throughout the District in six minutes or less.

Station 39’s location will also help reduce insurance premiums paid by many residents and businesses.
