North Odessa (TX) Breaks Ground on First New Fire Station Since 1984

Ground was recently broken on a new fire station in North Odessa, according to a report on cbs7.com.

Fire Station 9, the city’s first new fire station since 1984, is 14,500 square feet and was “desperately needed,” according to officials.

Vernon Township’s (IN) New Fire Station Is Getting Closer

Vernon Township (IN) Fire Protection District’s five-year plan is coming to fruition, reports tribtown.com, as earlier this year a five-acre site was purchased for $86,000 for a second fire station and training area.

The site—334 S. U.S. 31 between Uniontown and Seymour—is mostly vacant and the current house will be used for training purposes.

The details are still being worked out, and the fire district is seeking a contractor to do excavation work and install a driveway. However, officials said it won’t increase property taxes.

Car Accident With West Buncombe (NC) Ladder Truck Leaves One Dead

One person was killed in a car accident with a West Buncombe (NC) fire truck at the intersection of Lees Creek Road and the entrance to Eblen Intermediate School on Thursday around 3:30 p.m., according to a report on wlos.com.

No firefighters were injured, and the crash—under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol—happened when the ladder truck was responding to a possible structure fire at Erwin High School.

San Diego firefighters simulate airport emergency

VIDEO: Most San Diego firefighters spend the majority of their career fighting house and brush fires, but this week, dozens are practicing for something very different - a plane on fire at the airport. “In a house is what we call a Class A fire, typically materials, linens, and wood,” Capt.
