VIDEO/PHOTOS: Officials have started to lower alert levels within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park after the Kilauea volcano began to erupt early Monday morning in an area that hasn’t seen an eruption in nearly 50 years. A woman is dead after an early-morning apartment fire in north Seattle Tuesday. Seattle Fire crews were called around 5 a.m. to the 900 block of NE 63rd Street. The apartment building is vacant and is down the street from Whole Foods. Four people were found and rescued from inside the apartment building, but a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

PHOTOS: One person is dead after an early morning barn fire north of Ridgefield, fire officials say. According to Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue, they were dispatched to a report of a building fire at 29416 NW 51st Avenue around 7:03 a.m. Officials say when the first fire crew arrived they saw a large barn/outbuilding engulfed in flames, and the fire started to spread to an RV and car next to the outbuilding.

Electric Avenue bridge in Bellingham was closed Monday night due to critical structural issues. The bridge is expected to be closed at least two weeks. The bridge will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists. Critical failures were found during a recent inspection of the bridge. Crews are finalizing a detour plan.

A devastating seven-alarm fire in Paterson, New Jersey left families homeless and businesses destroyed Sunday morning. Residents said the fire at 195 Broadway started around midnight, but firefighters continued dousing the building with water well after the sun came up. Officials said the fire was severe and difficult to contain, and help was requested from several firefighting units across the area.
