New Montana law increases penalties for drivers who endanger first responders

A bill strengthening penalties for drivers endangering first responders working on Montana roadways was signed into law Thursday by Gov. Greg Gianforte. House Bill 264 was driven in part by testimony in both the House and Senate from family of Casie Allen and Nick Visser, two Hanser's Automotive tow truck operators who were hit and killed by a truck while clearing a crash on I-90 between Park City and Columbus on an icy morning in October.

How the Seattle Fire Department helped lead the city's fight against COVID-19

At the beginning of the pandemic, the Seattle Fire Department knew that as first responders, they we're probably going to have to pivot their efforts. "Initially, like the general population, we were very nervous about testing, nervous about going into hotspots where they were having outbreaks... It took a minute to realize that there was no one else coming to help us," said Brian Wallace the Acting Captain and COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Coordinator with the SFD.

Double-wide Yakima County home up in flames sparks suspicious fire investigation

A suspicious fire is under investigating after erupting Friday morning. Yakima County Fire District #5 say the fire sparked on the 400-block of Hickory Road, just outside of Grandview. Fire crews say it was a double-wide manufactured home that was up in flames, they say it had been vacant for a few years.

Richland delta fire ignites Columbia Point sending smoke billowing across Tri-Cities

A new plume of smoke is pouring from the Yakima River delta fire on Columbia Point South in Richland. Brush that had been smoldering from the 85-acre fire along Highway 240 spread and ignited the undeveloped area south of the twin Interstate 182 bridges, according to Richland Fire and Emergency services.
