Suspected arsonist arrested after fire set at Tacoma middle school

A suspected arsonist has been arrested after a fire was discovered at a Tacoma's Gray Middle School early Tuesday morning. Police had been called to the nearby STAR Center just before 4:30 a.m. on an unrelated call for a stolen car in the parking lot. As officers were on scene, they spotted flames coming from the school.

Spokane-area firefighters rescue man who slipped and fell in grain elevator

Firefighters from the Spokane area rescued a worker on Monday who slipped and fell while inside a grain elevator. The man was getting ready to receive a delivery when he fell approximately 19 feet, Spokane Valley Fire Department spokesperson Julie Happy said in a press release. It happened in the area of Alki Avenue and Fancher Road.

Pend Oreille Fire District 4 chief passes away in the line of duty

Pend Oreille Fire District 4 Chief Nick Knaack passed away in the line of duty on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife and three children. Chief Knaack served for 25 years throughout Kootenai County, Bonner County, and Pend Oreille County, according to Fire District 4. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 27, at 11 a.

Possum Trot-Sharpe (KY) Dedicates Fire Apparatus to Victims of Shooting

The Possum Trot-Sharpe Fire Department dedicated a new truck to two students who were killed in a shooting at Marshall County High School, reports The Paducath Sun.

The fire truck has both the students’ pictures and signatures designed onto both sides of the truck. The fire department invited the families to a private viewing of the truck. There were blue, white, and orange balloons, Marshall County’s colors, tied to the sides of the fire truck. 

The balloons tied to the truck were later released.

Twin Lakes (OK) Fire Station Destroyed by Fire

The Twin Lakes fire station is a total loss after a fire, reports KFOR News 4.

Fire officials said that the cause of the fire may be an ATV that recently had mechanical work.

An assistant fire chief tried to get some of the fire trucks out of the building. He was not able to do so and he was taken to the hospital as a precaution for overexertion.
