Texas high school awarded $10K grant for invention designed to keep firefighters safe

VIDEO: Students at a Garland ISD high school have come up with an invention that is now getting national attention. Students at the Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center designed a system to sanitize firefighters’ boots to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. The design got the attention of the researchers at MIT.

NFL player donates $10,000 to Tennessee firefighter that recently lost new home

When tragedy recently struck a Nashville firefighter and Tennessee Titans season ticket holder, Derrick Henry stepped up to lend a helping hand. Local firefighter Jeremy Taylor, a father of four girls, recently lost his new Nashville home to a fire. After seeing the news on social media, Henry reached out to the Titans to ask how he could help.

Massachusetts artist paints helmet shields for firefighters across the country

Washington state lawmakers discuss $125 million wildfire bill

The winter months aren’t stopping lawmakers and elected officials from bracing for this upcoming wildfire season. House Bill 1168 is currently making its way through the Washington State Legislature. Washington’s 2020 wildfire season was one of the most deadly and destructive on record. “It was one of our worst seasons ever and frankly, 5 of the last 6 years have been catastrophic,” said Hilary Franz, Washington’s Commissioner of Public Lands.
