WSU Extension Brings Flagship Forest Management Course to Key Peninsula

Forestry education is coming to the Key Peninsula. Beginning April 4, Washington State University’s extension forestry service will offer its flagship nine-week forest stewardship course to local landowners. The course is broad-based, covering topics like tree biology, soil, wildlife, disease, thinning, safe harvest, invasive weeds and fire risk.

Clallam County Fire District 3 considering community paramedic program

Clallam County Fire District 3 leaders have started forming a community paramedic program to help residents make non-emergency phone 9-1-1 phone calls. Battalion Chief Elliott Jones said at a Feb. 13 fire commissioner special meeting that of Fire District 3’s approximate 8,500 annual emergency calls a year, about 1,800 are low acuity (low emergency).

VIDEO: Massive fire engulfs old plant in Georgia

Firefighters have been working to put out a "fully-involved" structure fire at an old plant in Polk County that went up in flames Tuesday afternoon. The City of Cedartown said in a social media post that the fire engulfed the old Jockey plant on West Avenue. They asked that residents avoid the area and find other ways to travel.

Ribbon cutting held for new fire station in Kentucky

VIDEO: First responders in Jeffersontown are celebrating the grand opening of their brand-new fire and EMS Station. The ribbon cutting for Station 54 happened Monday morning at the new firehouse on Taylorsville Road, near the Gene Snyder. The project has been in the works for about five years. The firehouse will be staffed around the clock.
