The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday expanded its list of risk factors that make people more likely to develop severe illness or die from COVID-19. The update comes as the number of confirmed coronavirus infections rises to record levels in the United States, driven by alarming spikes in Florida, Texas and other states across the South and West.

A 72-year-old man was killed in a house fire early Monday morning.
The Spokane Fire Department responded to the fire on E. 6th Ave and S. Magnolia St around 3:15 a.m. Firefighters had to force their way into the home and found heavy heat and smoke.
According to the fire department, the house was found to be in “hoarder conditions” and had unstable flooring.

Authorities quickly arrested a teenager thanks to the help of witnesses after an explosion in a residential neighborhood near Rogers High School on Sunday afternoon.
Police received reports of a loud explosion in the 1700 block of East Rockwell Avenue at about 4 p.m. Sunday, according to a Spokane Police Department news release .

A fully engulfed motorhome parked on the side of the road on State Route 10, 7 miles west of Ellensburg, started a brush fire Sunday around 2:30 pm.
Trooper John Bryant said the fire burned some surrounding brush and trees, but fortunately a fire station was pretty close to the area.
