Crews with the Spokane Fire Department worked to extinguish a fire that broke out at the Waste to Energy Plant on Tuesday morning. According to the Fire Department, units were first dispatch just before 11:30 a.m. after staff at the facility reported increasing smoke. Crews arrived to find significant smoke conditions at the garbage drop-off area and on all four floors of the facility.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department quickly contained a fire at a Liberty Lake restaurant with minimal damage, and one firefighter was injured and transported for medical attention as a precaution. According to SVFD, firefighters responded around 9:20 p.m. Monday night to reports of smoke and flames seen at the Pentagon Bistro at 1421 N.
